You can't replay it in your head.
You remember getting caught, but not how you got there. By the time you ask your coach, the detail you need is gone.
Your guard gets passed again. You spend another round stuck underneath. You've asked for advice and watched the tutorials, but you still don't know what to change.
BJI is being built for personal human feedback on your own round. Choose a reviewer belt level, know the price upfront, and get corrections to practice.
Pilot registration is open. We’ll notify you when the product is ready; uploads are not available yet.
One detail to work on
You kept your neck covered, but your elbows came away from your body. Tuck them in and cross your forearms in an X, with your palms still protecting your neck.
Does this sound like your last session?
You put in the mat time. But when you can't identify what went wrong,
it's hard to know what to work on before the next round.
You remember getting caught, but not how you got there. By the time you ask your coach, the detail you need is gone.
You watch your round back. Your grips and position look right to you. So why did it fail? You don't know which detail to look for.
You've searched for the escape and tried the advice. But your situation is different, and you still don't know what to drill beyond doing more rounds.
If you don't film your rounds, we get it. It's hard to justify filling your phone with videos when watching them back still leaves you unsure what to change.
BJI is being built to turn those recordings into specific corrections and drills. One filmed round can become a clear focus for your next session.
(Just don't blame us when you get hooked on the feedback and your phone is 99% sparring videos.)
How the planned review works
You choose the reviewer level and see the price.
Then get on with your day while a reviewer takes care of the feedback.
Upload a clip, identify yourself, and select gi or no-gi. Add a question, or ask for general feedback.
Pick the minimum reviewer belt level. See a fixed total based on that level and clip length before you pay.
An approved reviewer at your chosen level or higher takes your request. We'll notify you when your written feedback is ready, with corrections to practice.
From “why did I get caught?” to “what do I practice?”
You covered your neck and didn't give up your back, but still got caught in the triangle. Let's look at what happened to your arms.
Illustrative written example, not a real customer review. Your review depends on what's visible in your footage.

You got caught in a triangle while your opponent had mount. Let's go back to how they got your arms.
Open each note below.
You did a good job keeping your neck covered. They tried to roll you over and take your back, but you stayed on your back and didn't give it to them. Keep doing that.
Watch your elbows here. They come away from your ribs, and that's where your opponent gets hold of your arms and sets up the triangle. Keep your elbows tight to your body and cross your forearms in an X, palms covering your neck. You're protecting both at once.
Grab a partner and let them take mount. Start light. Keep your elbows in, forearms crossed in an X and palms at your neck while they try to pull your arms out. If they get an arm, reset and go again.
Start a round with your partner in mount. Your only job is to defend your neck and arms. No sweeps, reversals or escape attempts for this round. Keep your back on the mat and see if you can keep that same elbow and hand position when they start going for submissions.
Every belt. Always something to learn.
You've put time into fixing one position. Asked your partners. Tried the advice. Yet the same failure keeps coming back, and you're left wondering whether it's your technique, your timing, or a detail you can't see.
BJI is for every level, from a beginner struggling to get out of closed guard to a black belt who can't quite finish heel hooks from the saddle. Bring the bit of your game that's giving you trouble.
If you think you know everything, you probably know nothing.
An extra perspective between sessions, alongside your coach and training partners.
Your feedback matters, too
You should feel comfortable asking us to take another look.
Here's how the planned reporting process will work:
Report the review with a short description of what went wrong or didn't meet your expectations.
Your report goes to our technical team, who will examine the issue and decide whether a refund is appropriate.
If the team approves your request, we'll issue a refund.
A human reviewer with a verified belt at your chosen level or higher. Reviewers must meet BJI's review standards, not just hold a belt. An eligible reviewer takes your request; you won't need to browse profiles or compare offers.
A fixed rate per second for your chosen reviewer belt level, with a minimum charge for short clips. You'll see the full total and what's included before paying. Rates will be announced before the pilot opens.
No. Sparring footage can reveal the recurring problems you want to work on. You should be identifiable and the relevant action should be visible.
Written feedback linked to moments in your footage, explaining what to change and how to practice it. The sample review shows the intended format. The exact scope will be clear before you pay.
No call or appointment is needed. Submit your request and we'll notify you when the feedback is ready. You'll see the expected delivery time before paying; pilot availability and delivery times are still being finalized.
Your clip is private, but approved reviewers may preview it to decide whether to take your request. It won't be published without permission. Check your gym's rules and get permission from people in the footage; full access, storage, and deletion terms will be available before uploads open.
The planned pilot
The pilot is designed to connect a moment in your footage to a correction you can practice. Personal human review will focus on three questions:
